hungry kya?

Someone rightly said that the way to one’s heart lies through his mouth. No, I’m not talking about felatory here, I’m talking about food! Someone unwise, erratic, ignoble said that. I said that.

So I shall try and give a fairly objective and precise account of the eateries around Delhi, but there is a caveat: I can eat anything (vegeterian), even inedible stuff(!). And I cant write more of this eloquent crap, for I am already dreaming of those chola bhaturas and the penne puttanesca…

Here goes:

For awesome bhelpuri goto the Bhel Puri walla who sits outside Hindu College, North Campus. It has this refreshingly fresh taste to it. The guy’s neat and he never, ever laughs or smiles, seriously.

And you thought there was only one way of making maggi right? The one that needs 250 ml of water and little else. Well, think again, keep thinking and head to Tom Uncle’s maggi “shop” (if i may have the liberty of calling it that) outside Miranda College, North Campus. Have the masala maggi. Awesome, people. I had it shipped to the Supreme Court! And once you taste it, you’d wanna make it at home. Forget it dude.

Have egg paranthas at this tarpaulin tent next to Vikram hotel, underneath the Moolchand flyover, because Shahrukh Khan does.

Rajma Chawal. Head to Shankar market, eat a plate full of rajma chawal, eat more. Then crap, crap more!

If you have just looted a train, or inherrited the Arab princes’ wealth, you can have no. 119 at the Big Chill, Khan Market. It is also known as Sphaghetti Puttanesca, but get Penne instead, it tastes awesome with the capers. Douse the fire with a Mississipi Mudcake. By this time, you’d have to loot another train.

By the way, its 2007. Its the same year in a new wrap. So, you can be all excited and open it, and then you can join me and my cynicism. I spent the new year traversing 1200 kilometers, and it was fun! I hope it is for you too.

Forever yours in search of a new place to eat and that “best” dish I’ve ever had.

Later.
